The LAPD is testing a knife found buried on the property that once belonged to O.J. Simpson. In 1995 Simpson was found not guilty of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman; it’s not clear if the knife is connected to those murders. The apparently blood-stained knife was found ‘years ago’ by a construction worker, who passed it to an off-duty police officer, who allegedly kept it in his home and wanted to frame it on his wall, before reluctantly turning it over to police in January. It will be tested for DNA, although because of double jeopardy it’s unlikely that Simpson can be tried again for the murders. Brown Simpson and Goldman were found stabbed to death at her Brentwood condo in June 1994, but a murder weapon was never found.
FX is currently airing “American Crime Story: People v. O.J. Simpson.”, a ten-episode drama about the murder trial from the perspective of the lawyers on the case. Cuba Gooding Jr plays Simpson.
