Canada Post has cut home delivery to an entire Windsor, Ont. neighbourhood because one resident allows his three large dogs to roam loose. The bull mastiff-type dogs have chased the mail delivery agent, so since Feb. 8th, service has been suspended for ninety-one area residents until the dogs are restrained when mail delivery is taking place. Until then, residents must pick up their mail at a retail location.
The city says the dogs’ owner has been fined for allowing dogs to roam off private property without a leash, and if charges hold up in court he’ll be liable for fines of $645 for each of the three dogs. The local Humane Society has spoken to the owner about the situation and explained that his dogs are in danger from cars when running loose, but Canada Post says that so far, the owner refuses to cooperate.
