A British tourist took a selfie with the man who allegedly hijacked an EgyptAir flight yesterday. Officials later found out that his suicide explosive belt was fake, but at the time of this smiling selfie, British passenger Ben Innes believed it to be real. Innes said he did it to take “a closer look” at the belt, and added “I figured if his bomb was real I’d nothing to lose anyway.”
Eighty-one people including fifteen crew were unhurt in the incident, and Seif Eldin Mustafa eventually surrendered when flight MS181 landed after diverting to Cyprus. The flight was originally bound for Cairo to Alexandria, and the hijacker’s motives remain unclear.
