Kevin Vickers does not hesitate, that’s for sure. Vickers is most well-known as the House of Commons sergeant-at-arms who shot dead Michael Zehaf-Bibeau in 2014. Zehaf-Bibeau had shot and killed Nathan Cirillo, who was on duty at the National War Memorial, and then continued his shooting spree on Parliament Hill, where he died in an exchange of gunshire. Vickers is now Canada’s ambassador to Ireland.
Yesterday at a memorial service in Dublin for British soldiers killed in the 1916 Easter Rising, Vickers intercepted a protester who ran up to the podium during a speech. The 29-year RCMP veteran tacked the protester, handed him off to security, and calmly returned to his position.
