Tickets to what will likely be the Tragically Hip’s final tour went on sale Monday morning for members of the band’s fan club. The pre-sale tickets sold out quickly, and then re-appeared minutes later on resale sites at much higher prices, including some tickets that were clearly fraudulent. Fan club members had received a pre-sale code by email, but clearly, scalpers and resellers had access to that code. Demand is high for the ‘Man Machine Poem’ farewell tour after it was announced that lead singer Gord Downie has terminal brain cancer.
This morning the band thanked fans in a note on their website, and added four more shows to the tour. Pre-sale for those dates will be Tuesday at 10am local time, with the same process of a pre-sale code emailed to fan club members. The additional Edmonton show is Saturday July 30th at Rexall Place, in addition to the previously-announced Thursday July 28.
