Andrew Greene, the former executive of Stratton Oakmont (stock brokerage firm) is suing Paramount Pictures and some other producers because he feels that the movie, ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ defamed him. He says that he was wrongfully portrayed as a drug using criminal and degenerate in the movie through the character Nicky Koskoff.
DiCaprio’s lawyers insist that his knowledge on the matter is limited, based on improvisation & creative decisions of the other actors in the film, causing his understanding of the script development to be “too limited to justify the burden of deposition.”
However, Greene’s lawyers insist that since DiCaprios had frequent meetings with director/producer Martin Scorsese as well as screen writer Terence Winter, his account will be extremely relevant.
A federal judge has decided to order DiCaprio to testify in court. No word yet on when that will happen.
