More than thirty people have been treated for burns after walking on hot coals during a Tony Robbins “Unleash the Power Within” seminar in Dallas, Tx, including five taken to hospital. The four-day event culminated in almost seven thousand people taking part in the fire walk unharmed. One participant said that some people were not concentrating on the fire walk because they were taking selfies halfway across the coals, and asking others to take videos of them.
Participants, who pay $1,000 – $3,000 to take part, train for several days mentally for the fire-walk but occasionally some do require treatment for burns from the coals. On Thursday night a woman called 911 and reported that hundreds of people had been burned, and that police should send as many ambulances as possible. Officials told KTVT-TV (Channel 11) “In Dallas tonight, someone not familiar with the fire walk observed the event and called 911 erroneously reporting hundreds of people requiring medical attention for severe burns. While we are grateful to the quick and robust response from Dallas emergency services, only five of seven thousand participants requested any examination beyond what was readily available on site. We are pleased to have completed another successful fire walk for 7,000 guests and look forward to the remainder of an outstanding weekend with them.”
