The most-watched show during Discovery Channel’s Shark Week ever was 2013’s “Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives”. The show was about the possibility that the prehistoric Megalodon might still be alive – but it turned out that the ‘scientists’ on the show were actors, and the events and ‘research’ were entirely scripted. Despite the public outcry about viewers being mislead that the show had been a factual documentary, the Discovery Channel ran a sequel the following year.
