It’s technically ‘art’, but you’re supposed to sit on it – the SeeSawSeat is an adult teeter-totter, and at least one Canadian city will be adding one. Vancouver Park Board just voted to install the SeeSawSeat at a major intersection.
The artwork is described as “Uncomfortable when used by only one person, the individuals that encounter it will soon deduce that it is best experienced with another person, so the seat becomes a tool for playful social exchange. This creates a playful situation full of possibilities for interaction and negotiation between members of the public,” reads a detailed description of the SeeSawSeat.
Remember these on the playground? Chances are you won’t find them anymore!
