Facebook may be known for oversharing, but they want you to know they are serious about your privacy too!
The company has been testing self-destructing messages with end-to-end encryption, an offering that will be rolled soon. These so-called “secret conversations” will let senders set a timer for how long messages remain visible. A similar feature is available on Whats app another chat app owned by Facebook since 2014.
The end to end encryption means that the messages cannot be read by Facebook or any other third party, so in the event of a subpoena Facebook would have no logs to hand over to authorities.
