Kim Kardashian returned to New York City Monday after giving a statement to police about her ordeal Sunday night. The 35 year-old was in Paris for Fashion Week, when a number of armed gunmen forced their way into her suite in a private residence, tied her hands and feet, forced her into a bathtub, and stole over $10 million worth of jewellry and at least two cell phones. After the gunmen fled she was able to free herself and call for help.
A Kardashian spokesperson said that she was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” after the robbery. After speaking with French police, Kardashian flew to New York to be with her husband Kanye West, who had cancelled his N.Y. concert mid-way through upon hearing the news. It’s unclear whether the couple’s two young children were with Kardashian when the robbery occurred.
Some news outlets are expressing skepticism about the robbery, noting that the family’s reality show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ will premiere on Oct. 23rd and that publicity about the incident could increase ratings, while others speculate that the robbery could have involved someone close to the Kardashians.
