Last night the Oilers winning streak came to an end as they lost 2-0 to the Senators. As someone who went to the game, it was a heartbreaker of a loss and it was sad to see the team lose. But we should be proud of our team and specifically our goaltender Cam Talbot, especially after what he did after the game. Senators goalie Craig Anderson put up a 27 save shut out, in what was a beautiful performance. Halfway through the third period I said to my father, ‘Nothing is getting by Anderson tonight, he is on a different level’.
Just days before the game though, his wife Nicholle, had been diagnosed with Cancer.
Anderson was named the games first star, and Cam Talbot waited for him on the bench, showing support for the courage it must have taken to put out such an amazing performance.
“Him being able to play the way he did under those circumstances, you have to give him so much credit. It’s an unthinkable situation. I can’t even imagine what was going through his mind. I don’t know if I would be able to do what he just did right now. We send our thoughts and prayers to him and his family,” said Talbot after the game.
