Yes, this is real life.
In Shawano, Wisconsin parents can be handed a hefty fine if their kid is an a-hole who likes to bully his or her peers.
In recent months, Shawano city council passed a law which states that police have the authority to intervene when aggression gets out of line. This means harassment of any kind (such as taunting, teasing online, taking lunch money, shoving kids into lockets, etc) will NOT be tolerated. If anyone under the age of 18 is caught displaying this type of unacceptable behavior, police will warn their parents. If the behavior hasn’t changed within 90 days, authorities can and will issue the parents a $366 fine.
What do you think of this law? Is it a good idea or a bad one? Should Edmonton do something like this?
