Perfect (but chilly) weather for the ‘Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Festival‘ meant a record turnout this past weekend. The tenth annual festival of everything winter (plus cultural activities) took over 118 Ave between 90 – 94 Streets and showcased ice carving, deep freezer races, an ice slide, street hockey, fireworks, food and much more. Organizers estimate over 25,000 people took in the event over a very cold weekend.
Btw, it takes hundreds of volunteers to put this on every year. If you’d like to help, find out about volunteering here.
