It happened nearly three years ago, but I still remember the day Malaysian flight 370 went missing, presumably into the Indian Ocean.
Like, how does that even happen?!?!?!
I was working at a radio station in Fort McMurray at the time, and the entire staff gathered around the TV that we had suspended above the receptionist’s desk. “Turn it up,” someone shouted, as the CNN anchor described the tragedy.
On March 8, 2014, a plane travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing pretty much vanished into thin air with 239 people on board.
Since then, Australian, China and Malaysia have been involved in a very intense, extensive underwater search of the Indian Ocean, costing the three countries hundreds of millions of dollars. The three countries issued a joint statement during a news conference today, to announce the decision to suspend the costly search. More here.
