On Wednesday, ‘Cooper’ the labradoodle was to fly with WestJet from Halifax NS to Deer Lake, NL to stay with family, while his human, Terri Pittman, flew to Jamaica for a wedding. Instead, he was mistakenly put on a flight to Hamilton ON.
A WestJet employee took Cooper out to do his business before the airline flew him to his correct destination, but Cooper slipped his collar, and was lost in a strange city.
The airline apologized to Pittman and flew her to Hamilton to help in the search – and thousands joined in. WestJet employees took to the streets.
Thousands posted on Facebook and shared Cooper’s picture and his story.
I think we could all use some good news.
Come on #HamOnt.

Local residents turned out in the rain, searching all night.
Pittman said “Random people messaged me asking how they can help, and they’re out around at three, four in the morning, looking around.”
This morning, Cooper was found, near the Hamilton airport.

He was cold and scared but otherwise appears to be okay, and WestJet will be paying for the vet checkup. Everyone will be flown home once they have rested up.
