Raise your hand if you went bonkers when Nintendo announced their NES mini classic edition.
Getting your hands on it was another thing entirely. It was THE big ticket item this past Christmas (along with Hatchimals!- don’t even get me started) and sold out faster than you could reach into your wallet. Everywhere you went while Christmas shopping you were likely to get this:
Which is exactly why so many people decided to be proactive for the much anticipated follow up to the NES mini. You guessed it…the SNES mini classic edition!
The SNES mini classic was up on Walmart’s US website last week (over 2 months early but who am I to ask questions?!) and “available stock” sold out within MINUTES! Frustrating, disappointing but considering what happened with the NES mini, not altogether unexpected.
Some lucky people were able to sneak in some pre-orders for the machine and have been playing the waiting game ever since. It must be a glorious, magical feeling to know that some day you’ll have an SNES mini coming your way sometime soon. I wouldn’t know.
I know, I know, I’m bitter but I can’t help it!
However, things didn’t turn out so great for those people who got the pre-orders in either!

Walmart sent out an email to them today blaming a “technical glitch” and stated that the item should not even have been advertised on the website in the first place. Many orders have been cancelled over the past few days .
This is no doubt going to cause a complete scramble for the console on its actual release date of Sept 29th! The NES continues to fly off the shelves so I can only imagine how difficult it is going to be to get our hands on the SNES.
