In a poll commissioned by the Canadian Imperial Bank Of Commerce (CIBC) almost 75 percent of parents admitted they would be willing to hand over a cash gift in order to motivate their adult aged offspring (18+) to get the heck out from under their roof.
Approximately 2/3 of parents would rather open up their wallet then live in the same house as their 18+ kids.
As for those who did plan to give a cash gift of this kind, the average yearly amount was $24,125.
However, that number was highly based on salary. So, those earning $100,000 annually say they plan to hand over $40,558. Those earning under $50,000 yearly say they plan to give $22,784.
Whoa…is it just me or is that a LOT of money???
Anyone else feeling ripped off for getting nothing to move out?!?!
Well I shouldn’t say that. I was given the ‘Walmart special’ luggage set and a pat on the back, “don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
