Alberta will keep changing the clocks twice a year… For now.
An all-party legislature committee has unanimously rejected a private member’s bill that proposes ditching the twice-yearly time change in Alberta. The five-member committee says that the bill has merits in terms of health, but there would be too much of an economic impact on business at a delicate time.
The move would have seen Alberta 1 hour ahead of BC in the summer and 2 hours ahead during the winter. This posed a problem for both WestJet, who predicted economic losses, and the NHL which was worried about the late start times effecting ratings.
Apparently there is a protest scheduled for November 5th. Now if they can only confirm the start time… Will it be 11am or 1pm?
