The city of Bathurst, New Brunswick wants to make trick-or-treating illegal for anyone older than 16.
Here’s the thing, that’s actually an upgrade on the previous bylaw! Last year, a city bylaw made it illegal for teens over the age of 14 to parade door-to-door dressed as ghosts and goblins, and set a 7 p.m. cutoff.
The new rules, which is expected to pass third reading in early October — will push the age limit for trick or treating to 16 year old and push the Halloween curfew to 8pm.
So what happens if you are over 16 and still want your share of the Candy loot? Anyone caught violating the aforementioned rules could be fined $200.
This includes the age limit and 8pm curfew.
