Okay so the title could be a little misleading, but after watching this video it really made me proud to call Edmonton home.
It’s the perfect video to watch when it’s minus 30 outside and it gets dark at 4pm. It also serves as a reminder that we are a thoughtful, competitive and caring group!
I moved here in January of 1999, and what hits home for me in this video, is Eskimos QB Mike Reilly giving the narrative. I have a very special place in my heart for the Esks. In 1999 I didn’t have many friends, and I had no hobbies or interests. In July of 99 I saw my very first Esks football game, and I fell in love with the sport. It was the home opener and we lost to the BC lions. I fell in love with the sport because of the fans. Everyone seemed so dedicated and united under this big green double E banner. After two seasons of watching Eskimo football I tried my hand in high school football, and we managed to win a championship our first season. Fast forward a few years, and I was taking part in the Fringe theatre festival.
I love my city.
We are the City of Champs. No question.
